What's the best part of your day at work? What do you actually enjoy doing?
Enjoys looking at house plans and making necessary items for people. Really enjoys the team here — 'working with a whole group I like as people is amazing'.
Loves his current position — mixing time between office and factory. Enjoys being in charge of daily factory operations. Great team, positive social vibes, he tries to do his part to keep it that way. Good collaboration with Craig Pengelly — complement each other, on the same page, driving efficiency improvements.
Seeing how many sheets / how much I can machine in a single day. CNC / machining is the bit he gets a buzz out of.
Best part of my day is working with excellent people, solving challenges and making happy clients.
Enjoys interacting with clients, drawing and creating beautiful spaces, seeing the end results. Brings entertainment to the team and enjoys their banter. Not fond of pricing. Loves the team and grateful to be part of Sellers.
I enjoy coding, and planning for growth.
On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you coming to work most days?
~8/10. Would be improved by more certainty on pricing accuracy — doesn't like seeing pricing specialised randomly for merchants/individual clients. Also strongly uncomfortable with AI reliance replacing human intelligence, specifically (1) writing to clients and (2) Larry doing 'HR when he simply isn't'.
Busy days = 8/10 (hours fly). Calm days = 4/10 (day is endless). Uses calm days productively — learning new things and coming up with ideas to improve BWJ/Formia.
8–9/10. Number depends on how well he slept — sleep is the main swing factor. Not tied to a specific issue, 'just one of those things'.
8/10 — No problem coming to work. Appreciates window view. Aircon unit directed at her face may cause problems. Internet was a challenge but seems resolved.
9 — usually love coming to work, although a bit tired currently. Need a break.
7.8 — score could move up when things are running more smoothly, financials are more stable and consistently hitting targets.
What's the most frustrating part of your job right now?
Wishes the IT stuff he's worked hard on would work perfectly. Feels like everything is hard work — it should feel easier.
Frustrations are opportunity (reframed positively — sees frustrations as chances to improve rather than listing specific complaints).
If a mate asked you whether they should apply for a job here, what would you tell them?
Would suggest it to a friend, if they were good and wanted challenge and growth.
As it's usually himself doing the hiring, he would highly recommend working for Formia Group.
(free-form check-in) — Larry's open-ended prompt for whatever's top of mind.
Teams ok, enough work in front of them. Mark and Craig Pengelly stressed in programming office — high volume + disruptions, working very long hours. Concerns about Daryl (new SRJ installer): not clocking into jobs, not taking progress photos as requested. Mark is monitoring and checking his work.
How'd the week land for you overall?
hi Larry, good week overall.
